I’m the President of the Electronic Medical Record Association Inc. and an expert in electronic health record systems, with expertise and knowledge regarding the operations and data management of Epic Systems.
My goal is to provide professional expert witness services regarding electronic medical records data, audit trails, audit records, and related EHR processes and federal regulations.
In the mid 1990’s I began piloting digital documentation of doctor visits at Henry Ford Health System. In 2001, I began a grant funded pilot implementation of an early EMR system at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH, part of the national Trinity Health System.
I have provided input on related federal regulations and to the Office of the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology and have spoken at conferences on EMR nationally. I specifically participated in committee work providing input on the development of the criteria for the certification of electronic medical records (“EMRs”).
I have been involved in many legal cases as an expert witness, where I have provided testimony and opinions on issues related to electronic medical records data, audit trails, audit records, and related electronic health records’ (“EHRs”) processes and federal regulations in Ohio, California, Connecticut, Maryland, Texas, Illinois, Nebraska, and Louisiana; and healthcare criminal prosecutions at the federal level. I have completed Epic Systems certification training at Epic Headquarters in Verona, WI for EpicCare Ambulatory. I have also received training in PMBOK/Project Management, Cerner Power Chart, and other Cerner products, NextGen (reseller), Medical Manager (reseller), OmniChart, HL7, SNOMED, Meditech, Medic 6.0, Hyland OnBase, MedPlus imaging, Nuance Dragon and other EMR systems.
